PAIL Institute Publications Other Publications Materials on International Human Rights and U.S. Constitutional Law Author(s): Hannum, Hurst Softcover - 116 pages (1985) Price: US $35.00 (Softcover) About This Publication Materials on International Human Rights and U.S. Constitutional Law demonstrates the evolution of international norms from broad, aspirational statements to much more precise definitions of rights comparable in many instances to those guaranteed under U.S. laws and the Constitution. The book seeks to give some substantive content to the term "international human rights law" through a comparison of international and domestic jurisprudence in the context of several important areas of constitutional law. While it does not pretend to be comprehensive, it is designed to stimulate intellectual and practical interest in "rights" broadly defined, to the mutual benefit of both constitutional and international lawyers and most importantly of the individuals on whose behalf such "rights" are invoked. About The Author(s) Hurst Hannum is Professor of International Law at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy of Tufts University. A graduate of Boalt School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, he served as Executive Director of The PAIL Institute from 1980 to 1989 and was a Jennings Randolph Peace Fellow of the United States Institute of Peace. He has served as counsel in cases before the European, Inter-American, and UN human rights bodies and has been interviewed frequently by national and international media on human rights and international legal issues.
