Tom Farer Dean Dean of the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Denver, he is the former President of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of American States and of the University of New Mexico. Within the United States Government, he has served as special assistant to the General Counsel of the Department of Defense and to the Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs. Dean Farer has taught law at Columbia University, Rutgers, Tulane and Harvard and international relations at Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School and the John Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies. He has also been a Senior Fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is the author of eleven books and monographs and over seventy articles and book chapters primarily concerning issues of international and comparative law, foreign policy, human rights and international institutions. His most recent work, Transnational Crime in the Americas, was recently published by Routledge. He has taught criminal law and procedure and unarmed self-defense to an African police force and consulted in connection with the Ugandan constitution. In 1993, he served as legal consultant to the United Nations Operations in Somalia. | |
